Efficient tools to build your streaming infrastructure

Open source SLDP playback for iOS

Softvelum continues its commitment to open-source development for streaming playback technologies. Following the release of open source SLDP playback for Android, we are now introducing an open source implementation of SLDP playback on iOS.

The new SLDP Playback Library for iOS allows developers to integrate SLDP streams into their iOS applications. This library delivers the same ultra-low latency playback used in our Larix Player, giving developers a tested and production-ready solution for adding SLDP capabilities to custom mobile apps.

The repository includes:

  • Playback library: core implementation of SLDP protocol support for iOS.
  • Sample application: a basic iOS app demonstrating how to use the library for SLDP playback.

SLDP is designed for real-time live streaming with minimal latency, supporting adaptive bitrate, multiple codecs, synchronized playback across devices, subtitles and other features. With open source playback libraries now available for both Android and iOS, developers have a full cross-platform foundation for integrating SLDP into their solutions.

We encourage developers to try the library, provide feedback, and contribute improvements.
